Welcome! As you may have guessed from the tagline, I sing and I write songs in Los Angeles. As a human.
Join me on my adventures in the place where “The Arts” meet “Small Business Startup.” Thrills and chills, y’all.
If music is the language of love, it’s indispensable when expressing and receiving the love of God. This collection of six original songs was recorded live at Bedrock LA with a small group of worshippers in the room to listen and pray. Featuring extended piano interludes and some spontaneous prophetic singing, the ‘Beautiful, Beautiful’ worship record is a peaceful, intimate meditation on life with Jesus.

COME, JESUS COME

Until the Son of God appear
Come, Jesus come
Bring some light into our world

Show us what we’re hoping for
We will wait for you

When I moved to Los Angeles in 2013, it was with the intention of making movies. Now here I am, thinking about album covers. What changed in 4 years?
I changed. A lot. Heavily urged on by the creative army around me, both at home and here in LA. I went from a firmly “behind-the-camera person” (dedicated to marketing other people’s work) to a shameless self promotion machine, leading the charge to not only make music boldly, but to gather around other songwriters and help each other do it.
I’ve been writing music for most of my life, and performing has become second nature. But until yesterday, my website was still full of articles I’ve published, films I’ve produced, and my YouTube channel about chocolate. It was a hodgepodge of creative endeavors, and not very clear as to what exactly a visitor might expect to achieve by perusing it.
I’m putting all my eggs in one basket, y’all. I, Cortney Matz, am a full-time singer/songwriter, making music for the masses. Consider yourself invited to read about it, listen to it, buy it, and share it.
