Cortney Matz, Singer/Songwriter

Welcome! As you may have guessed from the tagline, I sing and I write songs in Los Angeles. As a human.

What does that sound like? Take a listen on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, YouTube, or really any digital platform where you can search my name.

I invite you to join me on my adventures through frustrated idealism, cautious optimism, and the space to feel. And if you are intrigued by what you hear, come join the party at Patreon – I post new songs every month!

This Christmas: O, Come For Love

From O Come, O Come Emmanuel to All For Love’s Sake, the theme of this album is anticipation and love. Christ coming to us, us coming together in love as we follow him.

Visit the Liner Notes page for more information on the songs.

Every voice in concert ring
Evermore and evermore”

So I started a music blog

When I moved to Los Angeles in 2013, it was with the intention of making movies. Now here I am, thinking about album covers.

When I moved to Los Angeles in 2013, it was with the intention of making movies. Now here I am, thinking about album covers. What changed in 4 years?

I changed. A lot. Heavily urged on by the creative army around me, both at home and here in LA. I went from a firmly “behind-the-camera person” (dedicated to marketing other people’s work) to a shameless self promotion machine, leading the charge to not only make music boldly, but to gather around other songwriters and help each other do it.

I’ve been writing music for most of my life, and performing has become second nature. But until yesterday, my website was still full of articles I’ve published, films I’ve produced, and my YouTube channel about chocolate. It was a hodgepodge of creative endeavors, and not very clear as to what exactly a visitor might expect to achieve by perusing it.

I’m putting all my eggs in one basket, y’all. I, Cortney Matz, am a full-time singer/songwriter, making music for the masses. Consider yourself invited to read about it, listen to it, buy it, and share it.
